Water Wisely

Tips to Water Wisely!

Summer’s rising temperatures often mean increased outdoor water use, primarily due to an increase in lawn and landscape watering. The good news is that you don’t have to forego gardening to conserve water wisely. Follow these simple tips to reduce your landscape’s water needs.

  • Apply mulch around shrubs and flower beds to reduce evaporation, promote plant growth and control weeds.
  • Add compost or an organic matter to soil as necessary, to improve soil conditions and water retention.
  • Collect rainfall for irrigation in a screened container (to prevent mosquito larvae growth).
  • Always use a broom to clean walkways, driveways, porches and decks rather than hosing off areas.
