Understanding Your Bill

A. The DUE DATE represents the payment deadline. Accounts whose payments are received after this date will receive late charges, as per Town Law.

B. CURRENT READING corresponds to the later of the billing period dates and the PREVIOUS READING to the earlier date.

C. CUBIC FEET = GALLONS represents your usage in gallons.  One cubic foot equals 7.48 gallons.

D. The number of DAYS represents the number of days between meter readings.

E. Your CUBIC FEET PER DAY is shown at the left middle portion of the bill. The calculation is done as follows (refer to the bill above):

Usage ÷ Days in period = CUBIC FEET PER DAY
8,200 ÷ 97 = 84.5361

That is, 8,200 cubic feet usage, divided by 97 days in the billing period, results in an average of 84.5361 cubic feet used each day.

F. The graph represents your Average Daily Usage from the current quarter and compares it to your average daily usage for the same quarter from the previous year.

G. Look for messages in this section of the bill. Please note additional information is located on the back of your bill.
