October 25, 2025
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Our seventh annual Pharmaceutical Drug Take-Back Day will be held Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at our headquarters located at 38 Sandy Hollow Road. This annual event was established in 2018 to provide residents on the Port Washington Peninsula with a safe way to dispose of their expired or unused prescription drugs. Keeping these potentially harmful substances out of the water supply prevents adverse effects on human health.
Please note that sharps, including syringes and needles, cannot be accepted at this event. You may bring your sealed sharps containers to one of the following authorized drop-off locations:
Saint Francis Hospital & Heart Center
100 Port Washington Boulevard, Roslyn, NY
Phone: 516-562-6000
Sands Point Center for Health & Rehabilitation
1440 Port Washington Boulevard, Port Washington, NY
Phone: 516-767-2650
Contact each facility directly to confirm specific drop-off days, times, and procedures.
Safe Disposal Tips:
- Place all sharps in a hard, puncture-proof plastic container.
- Seal the container securely before bringing it to a collection site.
- Never place loose sharps in the trash or recycling.
At the close of the event, the Port Washington Police Department ensures all medications are safely transported to a certified disposal facility.
